pope2pope : hunters hill theatre present a new play by melvyn morrow

An early play reading for Melvyn Morrow’s new play

Hunters Hill Theatre is beyond excited to be presenting an Australian (make that) World Premiere – POPE2POPE – written by award winning Australian playwright Melvyn Morrow.

“Think Agatha Christie in the Vatican” says Director Elaine Hudson who is making her directorial debut with Hunters Hill Theatre and who has put together a superb cast and crew.

POPE2POPE takes its audience inside the very powerhouse of the world’s largest religion but looks to the future rather than the past.

God, mammon, faith, ambition, corruption, sex, incense and Gregorian chant. Not to mention extraordinary revelations. And surprising deaths. The cardinals have secrets, and the walls have ears. And the audience is a fly on this most eternally concealed of walls!

“Rehearsals are well underway and we are looking forward to delivering yet another enjoyable afternoon/evening out for our patrons and subscribers” said Theatre President Marisa Galiazzo.

Hunters Hill Theatre is celebrating two years at its new home on Level 2 of Club Ryde and has quickly become a fixture in the surrounding suburbs with many locals experiencing community theatre for the first time.

POPE TO POPE will play the Hunter’s Hill Theatre at Club Ryde, 729 victoria Road, Ryde between the 18th August and the 3rd September 2023.
