sneak previewing the mardi gras parade

If  you wished to have a Mardi Gras Parade experience without constantly standing for four hours or more, there is another way to ‘see’ it.

If you go to Hyde Park South approximately three hours before the starting time of 7pm you can see the participating revellers applying their makeup and putting on their costumes. In addition you can see the floats being constructed or wheeled in to position.

At Whitlam. Square there is a large and elaborate Indigenous Smoking Ceremony, accompanied by a traditional Maori Haka. Then run home and watch it on television.
