The new American film ‘Juno’, directed by Jason Reitman, was a refreshing, entertaining albeit unremarkable film.
As a basic guide, ‘Juno’ is a quirky, off-beat, feel good sort of film.
The film takes on a dark subject matter, teenage pregnancy. The main character is Juno, a very savvy, street smart teenage girl who finds herself pregnant the first time that she has sex, and for a large part the movie is about how she deals with her new situation.
After a fair bit of agonising, Juno decides to have the baby and give it up to a childless young couple who have advertised in the paper to adopt a baby. Let’s just say not all her problems finish with this decision.
The movie starts quickly with one of the first scenes seeing Juno drop her knickers and have sex with her boyfriend on one of the family’s antique chairs.
