With their new production the Epicentre Theatre Company under the direction of Dino Dimitriadis take on Harper Lee’s classic story about Southern racial intolerance, ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’, by presenting the 1970 stage adaptation by Illanois playwright, Christopher Sergel.
Dimitriadis won good performances from a confident cast. John Harrison was strong as that man of high integrity, Atticus Finch. Eleni Dimitriadis and Luka Tanfara impressed as Atticus’s two pre-pubescent children. Scout and Jem. Tim Wardell, as Tom Robinson, had a strong courtroom scene. Phil Lye was credible as racist, narrow minded Bob Ewell.
The play featured a good lighting plot by Matt Cook, good lighting design by Matt Cook, Sandra Williams’s well chosen period costumes, Dimitriadis’s uncluttered fluid set design, and the retention of William Gardiner’s poignant original music score.
With his current production, Dimiraidis has come up with a poignant and well presented staging of Lee’s classic tale. His production plays the Zenith theatre, Chatswood until the 20th June.
