Are you in the mood for a bawdy, burlesque night’s entertainment…?! ‘Briefs’, the current show at the Studio theatre, Sydney Opera House, will fit the bill perfectly.
The show is the creation of a band of good-time, gay Samoan performers who migrated to Ipswich in Northern Queensland. The style is a combination of cabaret and circus performance, together with some great self effacing, deadpan humour.
Two of my highlights…The great MC work of Fez Faanana with his entertaining introduction to each act which was given added colour by his appearing on each occasion in a radically different and eclectic costume…A very clever satirical skit involving a man, a devotee of Bunnings hardware stores, who has a love affair with his wheelbarrow!
‘Briefs’ plays the Studio Theatre at the Sydney Opera House until Saturday 15th January, 2011.
