What can you expect if you get some tickets to go and see ‘Busting Out’ this weekend at the Parade Theatre, Kensington?! The short answer is you’re going to have some fun, and you’re going to be just a bit amazed!
No doubt inspired by the hit show ‘Puppetry Of The Penis’, where men showed what they could do with their penises, Emma Powell has conceived ‘Busting Out’, where she and co-performer Bev Killick get to show the many different tricks that they can perform with their more than ample breasts.
Ok it kind of sounds contrived, and a bit like trying to hop on a gravy train, but what give this show the big thumbs up is that it is incredibly inventive. The skits
just keep on coming and most of them come off!
Now to the mix…The show is in two halves. Before interval is really a showcase for Bev Killick’s talents. She gets to do her stand-up shtick for about half an hour. I wasn’t that keen on this part. I thought it was pretty average, rough and ready stand up. Unremarkable…
It was after interval, when Emma Powell joined Bev Killick that the show really busted out! The show became a mixture of adventurous breast tricks… plenty of takes on popular songs with both women showing good strong voice, plenty of different characterizations, and plenty of audience participation- don’t sit in the front rows if you don’t want to risk getting involved…
It would be fair to call the tone of the show outrageous. Here’s an example…at one time in the show the two women have a race to see which of them will get their bra off under their top first. Once that is played out, they get two women from the audience to come up on stage and have a contest. You can guess what happens from there!
The show didn’t feel exploitive, and finished off on a note of celebrating woman power.
‘Busting Out’ is currently playing the Parade Theatre, NIDA for a limited season. Word has it that Powell and Killick are taking their show overseas, including shows in New York, not too long in the future
