michelle aung thin awarded $20,000 blake-beckett trust scholarship 2021

Award winning author Michelle-Aung-Thin

The Australian Society of Authors (ASA) has announced Michelle Aung Thin as the winner of the 2021 Blake-Beckett Trust Scholarship for her manuscript ‘The Japanese Photographer’. Aung Thin receives $20,000.

Selected from a shortlist of four, the assessors Nigel Featherstone and Peggy Free said ‘The Japanese Photographer’ ‘crackles with energy and promise’ and commended Aung Thin for her ‘highly accessible, clear and immediate’ writing.

The scholarship is offered annually to an Australian author, providing them with time to work on a current manuscript. Last year’s scholarship was awarded to Eleanor Limprecht.

For more information about the scholarship, see the ASA website.
