Apart from his Oscar winning performance in The Artist, Jean Dujardin is possibly best known for his series of spy spoofs starring as secret agent OSS117.

In MOBIUS he shrugs off the spoof and plays a spook for real, a Russian spion setting up a sting against oligarch Rostrovski played by Tim Roth.

It’s a honey trap sweetened by financial trader Alice, played by Cecile De France.

But with honey comes sticky and situations of trust clash with secrets and suspicion.

Duty melds with duplicity, the distinction between sex and love blurs, politics trumps patriotism, money talks, intimacy is intimidated.

Double cross is the paper cut to the heart and amorous assignations lead to attempted assassinations culminating in fates worse than death.

MOBIUS has all the trappings of superior spy cinema. Dujardin oozes cool charm and dangerous edge, de France is jaw droppingly gorgeous, and the backdrop of Monaco is an exotic and elegant location.
