After an absence of three years due to financial constraints and weather conditions, the St Patrick’s Day Festival came roaring back to the Entertainment Quarter (nicknamed the Green Quarter for the day) on Sunday18th March.

The show ring at the Entertainment Quarter was a sea of green with flashes of white and orange to complete the Irish tri-coloured flag.

There was plenty of Guinness on hand and Irish bands such as Black Water entertained the crowd. Gaelic food and souvenirs were pounced on by the eager and patriotic crowd.

There was to be Irish dancing later in the afternoon but the searing forty degree plus temperature defeated me but not the huge crowds streaming in and staying in contrast to their forebears whose climate is so cold and damp.
