The Island of Doctor Moron

The film, THE ISLAND OF DOCTOR MORON, is set to make history. There has never before been a cinematic film of an original live Australian rock musical. The film will be screened at The Dendy Opera Quays on Wednesday 23rd March. It will tour Australia. It is also due to be screened in the USA and Europe later this year.

“The opportunity to launch the film so close to the Opera House and The Harbour Bridge was irresistible,” says producer Mr Dockrill. Moron is an original Australian creation. I think it most appropriate that we launch this amazing film so close to these two massive Aussie icons.”

Mr Dockrill is at pains to emphasise the nature of this unique film. “Moron is not a glitzy Hollywood studio production. It does not intend to be. Moron is a hybrid film of a high-energy full-tilt rock musical performed live before a live audience.

We used 14-camera shoots over a number of shows and mixed the audio directly from the 48-channel desk to produce perfect 5.1 surround sound that blow people away. What you get when you see this unique film is the live show on steroids,” he said.

Jack Thompson has been the patron of this project since its inception. Dockrill recalls, “I remember Jack sitting next to me during a rehearsal of “It Ain’t Easy Bein’ a Voodoo Queen” sung by Bree Langridge who is currently performing in Cats. Jack actually recorded the song on his phone. When it was over, he turned to me and said, ‘mate, this is amazing!’’”

Of the film, Thompson says, “The Island of Doctor Moron is unlike any musical I have seen. It’s fresh, it’s novel and it’s exciting. The producers of this film have captured the raw energy of the live show brilliantly. It’s pure magic. You really have to see it at least once.”

The Island of Doctor Moron® will screen for one night only at The Dendy Opera Quays on 23rd March at 6:30PM.
