Anderson’ s film ‘There will be Blood’ is one of those films that knocks one for six.

In his Oscar winning role Daniel Day Lewis plays one of America’s original oil pioneers, and to put it bluntly, it is a scathing portrayal. Hr play for want of a better description, some kind of monster. Here is a list of some of his more monstrous achievements; he rips off country landowners by buying their properties for tuppence worth, and then mining the mint out of them for motzas. He emotionalluy abandons his only son because he becomes deaf and dumb as a result of a mining accident, and he does away with a few people in a very brutal fashion.

There will be Blood is brilliant epic bio-pic film making. Think Orson Wells in ‘Citzen Kane’…think George C Scott in ‘Patton’. It’s yet another example of depicting that combination of brilliance and utter ruthlessness which seem to provide the stepping stones to people getting to the top of their chosen careers.
