true history of the kelly gang : two double passes

Dendy Cinemas Newtown will be releasing Justin Kurzel’s epic western film, TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG on January 9, 2020. This film has a limited release at Dendy Newtown and will then be released on STAN from January 26, 2020.

Inspired by Peter Carey’s Booker prizewinning novel of the same name, TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG is an epic, fictionalised re-telling of the life of legendary Australian bushranger Ned Kelly.

Starring an all-star cast of George MacKay (as Ned Kelly), Oscar-winner Russell Crowe and Charlie Hunnam, the film shatters the mythology of the notorious icon to reveal the crux behind his life and forces the country of Australia to stare back into the ashes of its ruthless past.

The film has been lauded by international critics with VARIETY (Lodge, 2019) stating “Lithe and volatile and recklessly stylised to the hilt, “True History of the Kelly Gang” has moves like Jagger, but a head still teeming with language and history.”

Having had its world premiere at the 44th annual Tornoto International Film Festival, TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG will release at Dendy Cinemas Newtown for a limited time on January 9, 2020. Sessions can be found at dendy.com.au
